Les Claypool is an American musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the founder, lead vocalist, and bassist of the band Primus. Claypool grew up playing bass and experimenting with different musical styles, eventually forming Primus in 1984 with guitarist Todd Huth and drummer Jay Lane. The band quickly gained a following for their unique blend of funk, metal, and experimental rock, with Claypool’s virtuosic bass playing and offbeat vocals becoming a hallmark of their sound.

In addition to his work with Primus, Claypool has collaborated with a wide range of musicians and bands, including Tom Waits, Buckethead, and Oysterhead (a supergroup featuring Claypool, guitarist Trey Anastasio of Phish, and drummer Stewart Copeland of The Police). He has also released several solo albums and contributed music to films, video games, and television shows. Claypool is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bassists of his generation.
