About Walkabout
The Fixx’s 1986 album Walkabout marked a transition point in the band’s career, moving away from their signature new wave sound towards a more rock-oriented direction. The album features 10 tracks, all of which were written by the band’s lead singer and lyricist Cy Curnin and keyboardist Rupert Greenall.
The album’s lead single, “Secret Separation,” became a Top 20 hit in the US and helped propel the album to commercial success. Other notable tracks include the driving rocker “Going Overboard,” the atmospheric “Built for the Future,” and the pulsating “Lost Planes.”
With Walkabout, The Fixx demonstrated their versatility as a band, showcasing their ability to create a variety of sounds and moods while maintaining their distinctive style. While the album may not have achieved the same level of critical acclaim as some of the band’s earlier efforts, it remains a solid entry in their catalog and a testament to their continued relevance as a band.
