About Sounds Of The Universe
Depeche Mode’s 12th studio album, Sounds Of The Universe, was released in 2009. The album incorporates a diverse range of electronic styles, with nods to the band’s early experimental work and more contemporary dance music. The album opens with “In Chains,” a haunting, electronic track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Other standout tracks include the driving, pulsating “Hole to Feed,” and the hauntingly beautiful “Jezebel.”
The album was produced by Ben Hillier, who worked with the band on their previous two albums. The band used a variety of synthesizers and other electronic instruments, as well as live drums and guitar, to create a unique and layered sound. Lyrically, the album explores themes of spirituality, personal relationships, and the search for meaning in life. Sounds Of The Universe received generally positive reviews from critics and was well-received by fans, reaching the top 10 in several countries.
