Todd Snider
"Talkin' Seattle Grunge Blues"

from

Songs For The Daily Planet

(Author unknown)
Amidst the rise of "grunge rock", Snider released this song as a parody of the rise and subsequent fall of so many of the Seattle bands. The lines "I feel stupid/and contagious" are an indirect reference to Nirvana, who, according to the song, knocked the song's fictitious band out of the spotlight on into the downward spiral. Also known as "Seattle Grunge Rock Blues" & "The Band that Wouldn't Play."
