About Little Worlds

Bela Fleck & The Flecktones’ album Little Worlds is a triple album, with each each CD showcasing a different theme. The first CD, Frontiers, showcases the band’s signature blend of jazz, bluegrass, and world music, with guest appearances by Jon Anderson of Yes and Shawn Colvin. The second CD, Left of Cool, features more experimental and avant-garde pieces, including a cover of the Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” The third CD, Live Art, is a compilation of live recordings from various concerts.

Little Worlds is a showcase of the Flecktones’ virtuosic musicianship and eclectic musical influences. Bela Fleck’s banjo playing is at the forefront of many of the tracks, but the other band members, including saxophonist Jeff Coffin, bassist Victor Wooten, and drummer Roy Wooten, also contribute impressive performances. The album received critical acclaim and earned the band a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album in 2004.
